Blogging 101

Blogging 101 is mostly about the blogging vocabulary. To understand blogs, you need to know the terms blog, platform, domain, and web host.

Once you have mastered these key elements of blogging, you can enter any conversation about blogging with confidence. After you know what exactly a blog is, you will be on your way to passing the final exam of blogging 101 :).

Blog is short for weblog, which simply means a series of online posts presented in reverse chronological order. That’s all!

Most blogs are text, but there are also photo blogs and video blogs. The rest of blogging 101 has to do with the technical side of things. If you are setting up a blog, you will need a platform, a web host, and a domain. A blogging platform is a computer software program that allows you to write posts and to update your blog.

Your platform is also what you use to design the look of your blog, from color scheme to font size. The web host is sort of like the virtual file cabinet where your blog is stored. Your computer communicates with the host when you upload or edit a post. The domain is the online address of your blog, and usually ends in “dot com”.

Now that you know what a blog is, what a platform is, and what domains and hosts are, congratulate yourself!
You have passed blogging 101. Now let’s look at the basics of blogging!

Basics of Blogging

Blogging is a way for people to express how they feel on the internet but it can also be a great way to make money. Though you may not see it as a way to make money, it is still something that you can do as a fun hobby.

Here are some of the blogging basics and how you can get started with your blog.

Find A Niche

Before you make a blog, you will need to know what your niche is. A niche is basically what your blog is going to be about and it is important that you choose a niche that will get some traffic. You have to find a niche that is not too saturated but also not too unknown.

Choosing a niche like baseball can be very common but it is a better idea to try and get specific by choosing an actual baseball team. You will need to find a niche that you can constantly write about and something that you truly have a passion for. The video below explains a little what a niche is. I did the video while I was running a course on how to create high ticket online courses.

choose a niche in area you are passionate about! Click To Tweet

Stay Consistent

Choose a day of the week where you will release your next post so that you will be able to let your readers know when to expect a new post. You will need to stay consistent because you will most likely not have readers to begin with but you will need to remember that they will come. Do not base your success off of comments and views and base it off of how consistent you are. If you are not able to choose a specific day for your posts, always endeavour to post at least once or twice a week.

If you are able to get these blogging basics down, then you will be able to start blogging. Starting and running a blog is really not that tough and as long as you choose a niche that you have a passion for, you will never get sick of making blog posts.

If you want to become an authority blogger and learn how to monetise it, simply click here! Everything you need to know about blogging and making money from it can be found on the course.

Until Next Time….Keep Smiling xx!

Providing Value

Providing Value

We are still on the matter on how you can stand out from the noisy crowd so that you can be heard. If you missed the other series, don’t fret as you can get the full report by clicking here.

OK…let’s delve into today’s topic…..

Now you have your niche and your topics, you should also have your audience. The next thing you need to do is to start providing value.

Whether you’re on Facebook or Twitter or you’re just running a blog, value is what’s going to ensure that people keep coming back to your site and that they keep reading.

Whether you’re on Facebook or Twitter or you’re just running a blog, value is what’s going to ensure that people keep coming back to your site and that they keep reading. Click To Tweet

A lot of small, stuffy businesses, approach social media as a podium from which they can promote their products and services and generally pat their own backs:

“We have a small but highly capable team!”

“Our new service is second to none, why not see for yourself?”

This kind of random marketing talk is completely useless however because it doesn’t give the audience any reason to stick around and keep reading. If you were following a Facebook page and all it ever posted was messages about its own products, what would you do?

Most likely you would unfollow it.

So instead, you need to think of your social media efforts as a service. This is a free service that you provide to your audience as a taster of your expertise and to build that trust and gain that attention.

Your service might be to provide the latest industry news. Or maybe it’s to inspire them with ideas and quotes? Maybe you want to offer entertainment with funny videos and joke articles?

Either way, find a way that you can offer a service that will appeal to your particular niche and what you’re doing.

If you have a health insurance company, then why not post health tips? If you make software for small businesses, then how about featuring small successful companies that others can be inspired by?

Even if your subject matter is dull/dry, there are ways you can make it interesting and thereby inspire your audience and get them to keep reading.

Ask yourself this: if your social account went down tomorrow, would anyone be sad about it? If the answer is no, then you’re not doing it right!

Only then will you occasionally post promotional content which will be much more successful now you have your audience listening. And when you do, you need to make sure you’re still providing value by offering exclusive content and unique information.

And make sure that you are consistent and that you are frequent.

The same is true for your blog. If you provide value on your blog with deep, fascinating and in-depth posts – then people will share it for you! Think of each article you post as a little product in itself and that means it should have its own design period, gestation phase and even marketing campaign surrounding it and helping you to launch it! If you do not have a blog yet, now is the time to get one.

You can learn how to launch your own authority blog and start providing value to people.

There’s So Much More!

Hopefully now you’re starting to see how you can get heard in a noisy world. Hopefully you recognise the difference between spamming the web with promotional content and having a brand that’s interesting and unique and that you really care about.

If you are doing something genuinely worthwhile and something that you’re truly passionate about, then you cannot only be seen – but also build a loyal army of followers and fans who can help you ensure that you go from strength to strength.

But there’s so much more to it than what we’ve been able to cover here. In the full book we discuss many more topics relating to your online success, including how you go about writing titles that people can’t help but click, what it is that makes people want to share content, and how to use tools and plugins to ensure that your social channels stay active and are much more likely to spread virally.

With the best strategies and the most powerful tools, you can blare your message out to the entire internet as though you had a giant foghorn. And then anything is possible!

Until Next Time!……Keep Smiling xx.

Profiling Your Audience

By PrincessChidimma | Branding , Online Business , Social Media

Profiling Your Audience

On the last issue on how to stand out from the noisy crowd, we talked about “creating a brand you care about”. If you haven’t read it, please click here to read it.

To stand out from the noisy crowd, after creating a brand you care about,The next step in creating your brand and your business model is to consider your audience. And if you want to get in-depth with this, you can even profile your audience as though they were sitting in front of you.

Try and learn and estimate as much about these people as you possibly can based on what you already know.

What is the average age of your typical reader? What is their disposable income like? What other interests do they have? Where do they hang out?

What drives them and what do they want out of life? Where can you find them?

Doing this little bit of research at the start can help you a great deal with the creation of your brand and the content you share but will be instrumental when it comes to designing your marketing campaign.

Firstly, knowing where your audience is likely to be found is one of the best ways to ensure your marketing is on-point. If you are a small business, then there’s a limit to how much marketing you can do which means you need to ensure you are efficient and accurate with it.

If your audience is very old, then they are unlikely to spend much time on ‘young’ social media platforms like Snapchat or WhatsApp. But if they are young? Then this is the perfect place to find them and to market to them!

Then again, you also need to think about what drives your audience and who they are. The reason this is so important is because it’s going to impact greatly on the type of marketing you use. This relates to a concept called your ‘value proposition’ and more broadly to the kind of message and lifestyle you’ll be promoting.

Because when we read websites about fitness, we don’t read them because we’re interested in biology (as a whole). Rather, we read them because we want to feel more confident, more energetic and more attractive. It’s the lifestyle and the emotional hook that drives us – its aspirational and vicarious.

On the other hand, people who read blogs about making money are likely to be unhappy in their current jobs. Maybe they’re driven by conventional concepts of ‘success’ and ‘achievement’. They want to be standing in a high rise skyscraper somewhere wearing a suite and knowing that their pay-check is huge.

Knowing what it is that drives your audience will make it much easier to inspire them and to get behind your brand as a movement rather than just a

company.

What is it you want to help other people achieve? What is it that your audience dreams of and how can you tap into that?

I will love to read your thoughts….leave them on the comment box.

Until Next Time…..Keep Smiling xx.

How to Write Sales Text That Works for a Landing Page

How to Write Sales Text That Works for a Landing Page

If you are planning on selling a big ticket item, then chances are that your entire income model is dependent on those sales. A big ticket item can sell for anything from $99 up to $2,000 or even $20,000. For most of us, that means enough money to live off for the following week, month or even year!
The bottom line? You need to do everything you can to make these big ticket items sell and one of the very best ways to do that is by creating a landing page and adding the right type of persuasive text to encourage sales. This is one page that is entirely dedicated to making a sale and that has no other function.

A big ticket item can sell for anything from $99 up to $2,000 or even $20,000. Find out how! Click To Tweet

Here’s how you go about wording it:
Narrative Structure
The first tip is to consider using a narrative structure. You want to position yourself as a figure of authority, so don’t make your narrative one about how you used to be broke/fat (this is a good option for cheaper products). Rather, just talk about your experiences and how you came up with this great idea for a course. That way, your writing will be much more compelling and engaging and people will want to keep reading.
The Value Proposition
During your text, always focus a lot on your value proposition. A value proposition is essentially the thing that you are offering your readers/customers. If you are selling an ebook, then the value proposition is not the text that makes up the ebook and it is not the PDF file that you are saving the ebook as. Rather, it is what that ebook can do for your customers and how it can change their lives. Focus on this and really try to understand the emotional appeal of what you are selling.
AIDA
AIDA is a popular structure used in many sales pitches. The idea is to acknowledge that the buyer has never heard of you or your product before and to take them from being understandably dubious to a keen buyer. It stands for “Awareness, Interest, Desire, Action”.
Social Proof and Community
Finally, never underestimate the power of social proof, social influence or community. People love to feel that they are a part of something and that they are part of a movement. They also often look to others for cues that will guide their own behavior.
Make sure that your product is the exciting and exclusive offer that all the most in-the-know people are talking about.

The solution to cutting the learning curve when it comes to creating high-priced products, is to enrol on the fact-filled High Ticket Authority course which includes e-book, 10 videos, checklist, cheat sheet and a mind map. Get access to it now. You can get access to it here.

Disadvantages of Internet Marketing

By PrincessChidimma | Internet Marketing , Making Money Online , Online Business

In the last issue we talked about the importance of conducting online market research. In this issue we are going to switch gears a little and go over some of the disadvantages of internet marketing.

With everything, there are both advantages and disadvantages. It is that way with internet marketing. Keep in mind that internet sales is not static.  As things change, what we find disadvantageous today may become a good thing tomorrow. With that, new disadvantages will take the place of these.

The lack of human interaction is a big disadvantage in internet marketing. When a person enters a store, he or she can ask for advice, gain information, and interact with a human. Many people don’t like the impersonal feeling that comes from shopping online. Telephones and chat rooms exist, but these do not help internet marketing give the same feeling as having a live person in front of you. So, even if a customer goes online for product information, they may end up choosing to buy the product in person anyway.

Internet marketing is not a free activity. There are costs involved in building and maintaining a website and buying hardware and programs to help run your business. There are, of course, costs in running a brick and mortar store that internet marketing does not have. Depending on what angle you approach it from, the cost involved could be considered acceptable.

When websites go down, customers can’t get to you. You lose sales and they become frustrated about having to seek a product elsewhere. This may not deter the customer who is in this situation once, but repeated times will cause him to take his business somewhere he can feel is reliable.

Safety has led many customers to avoid shopping online. Many people are afraid of identity theft and other forms of fraud that stop them from buying things online. You might have done everything possible to insure your customer’s privacy, but some people still will not trust the internet.

While the number of people online is steadily increasing, not everybody has gotten there. A major portion of the population will never see your site because they do not have internet access. Finally, you may find yourself targeting the wrong population if you do all your business online and don’t take time to come face to face with the customer to make sure what you are selling is what the customer wants.

Until Next Time…..Keep smiling!

The Importance of Conducting Online Market Research

By PrincessChidimma | Making Money Online , Online Business

The Importance of Conducting Online Market Research

In the last issue we talked about some common SEO terms everyone marketing online should know. In this issue we are going to go over the importance of conducting online market research.

If you are going to have a successful internet business, then it is important that you know the basics of internet market research. Internet marketing is any way that you seek to improve the awareness of your business in the online marketplace. It is common for a person to dive haphazardly into internet marketing programs without knowing their target audience, or even enough about their business.

This is what makes internet market research so important. By conducting this research, you are better prepared to know who your target audience are as well as the best methods of reaching them.

If you are going to have a successful internet business, then it is important that you know the basics of internet market research. Click To Tweet

Many companies find that the markets in which they serve are filled with customers, competitors, and continually changing marketing conditions. Meeting the demands of these constantly changing market conditions is one of the most difficult aspects of marketing. It is because of this that market research is so important.

The same marketing techniques that work today are not guaranteed to work in the future. This marketing research can provide information on what the target market is going to look like in the future, and how to prepare for it.

Research is the process of gathering information in order to learn about something. Yes, that is a simple definition of something that is actually quite complicated. For the marketer, research is not simply for the purpose of learning, but is an extremely important ingredient in the decision making process.

Internet market research will give you a full picture of both what is occurring and what is about to occur in the marketplace. When it is performed well, it can let you know the best choices to be made. Marketing decisions are less risky when you have looked at all available options.

There are countless decisions to be made in business that are effected by marketing; these include: target markets, products, distribution, promotion, pricing, external factors, and others. Each of these marketing segments will require research. It is important that you perform the correct research for each of these segments or you will be wasting your time.

Because marketing involves people, it is one of the social sciences. Social science is the study of people and how they react to different situations. In marketing, you study people and how they react to different marketing campaigns. Many marketing research techniques, such as surveys for example, are in actuality scientific experiments.

Not all marketing research will require studies to be performed, but if these studies are not performed correctly then they are producing inaccurate results. Of course, any research, no matter how well performed, has the ability to be wrong. It is because of this that you must undertake many different methods of research in order to produce the most accurate results.

Research reliability depends on making sure that the data gathering leads to accurate results. If you always make sure to conduct the proper Internet market research, you will find that your business will be much more profitable than if you had not.

Make sure you look for your next issue soon. We will be talking about some of the disadvantages of internet marketing.

Some Common SEO Terms Everyone Marketing Online Should Know

Some Common SEO Terms Everyone Marketing Online Should Know

In the last issue we talked about how to build l list of email subscribers. In this issue we are going to go over some common SEO terms everyone marketing online should know.

Whether you are an internet marketer or an offline business going online, you are going to hear about search engine optimization (SEO) very early on. SEO is the term online marketers use to refer to the process of getting as much traffic as possible from search engines like Google. It can be confusing to try to understand this new foreign language that everyone online seems to feel so comfortable with. So rather than struggling to translate everything, learn a few of the basic terms to give yourself a head start.

Whether you are an internet marketer or an offline business going online, you are going to hear about search engine optimization (SEO) very early on. SEO is the term online marketers use to refer to the process of getting as much… Click To Tweet

Here are some of the most common SEO terms that you’ll hear.

SERPS: This stands for “search engine results pages”. These are the pages you see after you type in a search phrase into Google or other search engines. They’re the results of your search. For anyone with a business online, your goal is to be as high up in the SERPS as possible for any search phrases associated with your business.

Meta tags: Meta tags are words that appear in the html code for a page, but do not appear on the page itself. They tell search engines specific information about that page. The most common meta tags are for description (of the page), keywords, and author.

Title tags: These are the words that appear in the tab or bar at the very top of your web browser. They are the “title” of the page that a user will see when they look at the top of their browser.

Alt image tags: The alt image tag provides the “alternative text” for an image. Since search engines can’t read an image, you should always provide some text that describes the image as well. It will show up if the image can’t be displayed and will also show if someone mouse’s over it.

Hyperlinks: A hyperlink is simply a link you can click on that connects one place to another either on the web or even within a document, such as a slide show. Hyperlinks can be attached to text or images.

Anchor text: This is the clickable text in a hyperlink. Marketers typically use keywords that describe the linked page as their anchor text, which can help in ranking higher in the SERPS.

Internal links: These are links from one page on a site or domain to another. The opposite is an “external link” which involves linking to a page on another website. Both types of links are important for SEO.

Long tail keywords: A long tail keyword is a search phrase that consists of two or more words. Usually, the longer the keyword phrase the more specific the information is that the searcher is looking for. In general, it is easier to rank for a long tail keyword since it will have less competition.

Keyword density: Keyword density is a measure of how many times a specific keyword appears on a page in relation to the number of words on the page. If the keyword density is a high percentage, it can be a warning sign to Google that the page is low quality or spam.

Organic traffic: The free traffic you get naturally from search engines and other directory listings is referred to as organic traffic. The opposite is paid traffic, such as the people who arrive at your site by clicking on one of your ads on another site.

Spider: Also referred to as a “crawler” or “robot”, spiders are software programs that the search engines use for locating and indexing all the pages and websites on the internet. Spiders follow links from one page to another and will revisit sites, indexing new pages as it goes. ‘There are many more SEO terms that you’ll hear as you learn more about getting traffic from search engines. Don’t be afraid to ask for definitions and explanations of a term you don’t understand. Even the most seasoned internet marketer comes across terms they are unfamiliar with. It is all part of the learning process for getting more traffic.

How to build list of email subscribers

In the last issue we talked about how to take advantage of Facebook to boost your visibility online. In this issue we are going to talk about how to build l list of email subscribers.

Every online business provides great service to generate satisfaction among their customers. As each and every customer receives satisfaction over their products or the services they get, there is a great chance that they will become a return customer and buy again. Better yet, they will recommend you to other people that could generate more business for you and your site.

As more traffic is driven to your site, you can entice many of them to subscribe to your mailing list or opt-in list. This is a list where a website visitors agrees to be sent promotional materials such as newsletters, catalogs and such that could keep them updated about your site or the niche of your site. These promotional materials are sent via e-mail to the members of the list in different time intervals.

When using e-mail as the media of your marketing and advertisements, you eliminate the need for high costs. Email is free and if you can manage to make your own promotional advertisements you can also save a bundle there. With an opt-in subscribers list, you are pretty sure that what you are sending out is received, viewed and read by the subscribers and not simply being deleted. They have signed up for service and have consented in receiving it.

This means that there are constant reminders to your subscribers about all your products, new products and services as well as any promotions and special deals you are having. There is also the chance that they can be forwarded to other potential customers as they tell their friends and families about you and your site.

Of course you should be also aware that a subscriber may unsubscribe when they feel that they are not getting what they want or expected. Make sure that they are satisfied with your opt-in marketing strategies and keep them excited in receiving your newsletters and catalogs.

Here are some tips that can help you build a list of eager subscribers.

Make your promotional materials interesting and fun-

Try to use a little creativity but not too over artsy. Build around what your product or service is about. For example; if you are selling car parts, put some pictures of what is new in the auto parts world, a new wing door possibly that can fit any car and make it look like a Lamborghini.

Try to research what people are looking for-

Researching on what people are looking for will help you stay one step ahead of them all the time and you will be their bearer of new tidings. They will be eager to receive what you are sending to them because they know you always have fresh and new things to share with them.

Write good articles that can be very informational but light at the same time-

If your subscribers enjoy your articles, they will go to your site by clicking the links that you will be putting on your newsletter to read some more. You can provide articles that can connect to many people. Be diverse in your articles. Put something humorous, then put something informational, then put something that has both.

Are you wary about this because you don’t like writing? No problem, there are many professional and experienced article writers that  can do the job for you for minimal fees. They know what they are doing and can provide the need that you have for your newsletters, the money that you pay for your articles are going to be met by the many sign-ups and the potential profit from the sales that you will get.

If you would prefer to learn how to create contents, download this Free ebook on content creation. It has 70 tips on how to create irresistible contents for your blog, ebooks, videos etc. You can get it by clicking here.

Create and send an E-book to your customers about anything that is related to your business or site-

Use your knowledge and expertise in the field you have chosen to help other people who are similarly interested. Offer this e-book for free. You can write about anything informational and helpful to your subscribers. For example; you can do manuals and guides in so many things. This e-book could be used as a reference for many people.

Share this e-book with everyone, even other sites; just make sure that they don’t change the links in the e-book that will lead people to your site. If you want, you can always get some people to write it for you just like your articles. Your investment once again will be covered by the great marketing this will generate.

Add e-coupons in your newsletters that will help them avail to special discounts-

Put a control number in your e-coupon so that they can only be used once. When people get discounts that can be found in your newsletters, they will be eager to receive your newsletter in anticipation of what you are promoting next.

If your subscribers can get benefits from your newsletters, they will be very eager to receive them. Just don’t flood your mailing list with mails so that you don’t annoy your subscribers.

How to take advantage of Facebook to boost your visibility online

By PrincessChidimma | Facebook For Business , Online Business , Social Media

How to take advantage of Facebook to boost your visibility online

In the last issue we talked about some basics of link building to increase traffic to your business website. In this issue we are going to talk about how to take advantage of Facebook to boost your visibility online.

Many businesses are not taking full benefit of Facebook’s cover page and timeline features. However, there is more opportunity there to drive more traffic to your website than ever before. Instead of just doing your regular status updates, try using some of these tips to give your page a boost in both traffic and image.

– Change your cover photo

Each time you change your cover, an update appears in your timeline. Your followers see that in their newsfeed and are more likely to click it to see what has changed. If you keep your images interesting they’ll be eager to see what’s new. Some ideas include sharing images from customers, collages of products, a funny photo, or a dramatic representation. Think about it! Some people go daily to the Google search page just to see how they’ve redesigned the Google image for that day. Also, the more you show up in their newsfeed, the more likely they are to visit your page.

– Use the pin-to-top feature regularly

You can pin your most important posts to the top of your timeline every day. Whenever you have a special offer or event you want to promote, make sure you have it pinned at the top where visitors can see it.

– Share images as much as possible

Statistics show that people share images more than text. Try using a mix of your own images and those from other interesting sites. Ask customers to upload or share their own as well. You could even have a contest where followers upload their favourite product images and see who gets the most likes.

– Add items to your historical timeline periodically

Every time you add an event to your historical timeline those updates will also show up in follower’s news feeds. Just don’t update your history all at once and flood their feeds. They won’t thank you for it and may just unlike you.

– Avoid using third-party publishing platforms for your posting
